“GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Nate Hurwitz, the teen who flashed a perpetual smile while advocating for other children with disabilities, has died unexpectedly at a local hospital.

The 16-year-old Forest Hills Eastern High School junior never complained about being diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a rare degenerative muscle disease that meant he had to use a wheelchair for much of his childhood. He instead campaigned for a special baseball field in West Michigan to be built for disabled children and had a tremendous gift for counting all of life’s blessings…”
