GRAND RAPIDS, MI – The West Michigan Miracle League, an organization that provides children with mental and physical disabilities an opportunity to play baseball, announced Monday that Opening Day on Nate Hurwitz Field will be Sept. 21.

“This is the only field in West Michigan for children with special needs, and it provides an opportunity for them to play in a safe, fun environment,” said Tony Comden, president of the WMML. “Many of our players watch other children play baseball but haven’t been able to participate. On this field, the kids can join a league and enjoy America’s favorite pastime.”

The Plainfield Township-based Miracle League field, named in memory of Nate Hurwitz, is a part of the Art Van Sports Complex on 10 Mile Road in Plainfield Township.
